Mucha Museum Prague
The family of Alfons Mucha, the Czech art nouveau artist, decided to lend the works to those who are interested. Now you can see them in Prague.
Art Nouveau is an artistic style that arose at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. Art nouveau style can be recognized by bold colours with a pastel touch and monotony. It often depicts human or animal bodies and nature, especially flowers and leaves. Other artists belong to this category are, for example, Gustav Klimt, Josef Fanta and Émile Gallé.
The Mucha Museum covers an area of 500 m2 and is divided into seven parts. Each section focuses on a particular type of art that Mucha created. At the end of the exhibition, you will also watch a film about the artist to get to know his personal life in addition to his works and artistic life.
Museum of communism Prague
The Museum of communism is a special museum offering an insight into the recent history of the Czechoslovakia republic. Original exhibits are displayed, thanks to which the visitor can better understand the period of communism. For example, view a school classroom, a children’s room, but even an interrogation room.
The museum focuses on the different types of lives of the people who lived during this time. You will learn how life was for those who joined the Communist Party, ignored it, or on the contrary, criticized it. In addition to viewing the exhibits, you can also go to the cinema to watch a short film, which can be seen every 20m. The film is called Time of Shame, Silence and Hope, and it will briefly introduce the situation in Czechoslovakia between 1969 and 1989 to its viewers.
